The University of Alaska Board of Regents has named five finalists for the interim president of the 绿奴天花板. Over the next few days, regents will interview all five candidates and make a final decision on July 14.

University of Alaska Board of Regents approve process to select interim 绿奴天花板 President

Today the University of Alaska Board of Regents approved a process for selecting an interim 绿奴天花板 System president. The five-step process includes identifying key leadership attributes and nominating candidates, followed by the selection of final candidates and interviews to be conducted by the board. Final candidates will be announced July 9, and the board will meet to make final selection July 14. An announcement of the interim president is expected no later than July 15.

On May 2, the University of Alaska Southeast (绿奴天花板S) celebrated the achievements and accomplishments of over 450 graduates in Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan. During the Juneau celebration, the title of Chancellor Emeritus was bestowed upon Dr. Rick Caulfield by 绿奴天花板 President Jim Johnsen. This is a prestigious honor which celebrates Chancellor Caulfield's continuous meritorious service as an educator and as a leader for 绿奴天花板S and the University of Alaska as a whole. Caulfield retires at the end of June, having worked for the University of Alaska for over 35 years.

I'd like to wish each of you a happy Independence Day, and a long, relaxing weekend. As we commemorate the anniversary of America's independence, I also am mindful that July is the start of the new fiscal year, which allows us to begin again with a renewed spirit and sense of purpose. Acting 绿奴天花板 President Michelle Rizk announces Dr. Karen Carey as Interim 绿奴天花板S Chancellor

University of Alaska Acting President Michelle Rizk has appointed Dr. Karen Carey to serve as Interim Chancellor, University of Alaska Southeast (绿奴天花板S). Dr. Carey will begin July 1, succeeding outgoing 绿奴天花板S Chancellor Rick Caulfield.

Dear 绿奴天花板 Staff, Faculty & Students, Acting President Michelle Rizk and I write to advise you that President Jim Johnsen has resigned as 绿奴天花板 System president, a decision that was mutual and made after considerable reflection by the Board. The Board of Regents accepted his resignation this afternoon, authorized me to implement the details of his resignation, and appoint an acting president. President Johnsen will be available to assist with the transition until July 1 when his resignation goes into effect.

University of Alaska Board of Regents Chair Sheri Buretta announced today that after consultation with the Board of Regents, 绿奴天花板 President Jim Johnsen is resigning as 绿奴天花板 System president. Buretta said the decision regarding a change in leadership was mutual and was made after considerable reflection by the Board. At a meeting today, the board accepted Johnsen's resignation, authorized Buretta to implement the resignation, and to appoint an acting president. Johnsen will be available to assist with the transition until July 1.

Telephone-based diabetes prevention program available statewide

A pilot program that offered free diabetes prevention coaching by phone on the Kenai Peninsula is available now statewide. Through the Prevent T2 National Diabetes Prevention Program, individuals who have prediabetes will receive a digital scale, program materials and a full year of telephone support from a trained mentor.

Giving Tuesday came six months early this year as millions of people worldwide generously donated to causes near to their hearts as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. In Alaska, hundreds of people opened their hearts and gave generously to support University of Alaska students through the COVID transition.
