Announcing August 2 Butrovich Computing Facilities' Annual Systems Test

OIT will conduct a planned Facility Annual Systems Test (FAST) in the Butrovich Computing Facility (BCF) on Sunday, August 2, 2020, from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m.. No system outages are anticipated as a result of this activity. 绿奴天花板 Blackboard Learn, Banner, and 绿奴天花板Online will be available during this time.

BOR Chair recognizes Acting President Rizk, welcomes Pat Pitney to 绿奴天花板

On Monday, August 3, we will welcome Pat Pitney to the University of Alaska as our interim president. We look forward to her leadership, her vision and her collaboration with the 绿奴天花板 community. Welcome Pat! I also want to acknowledge and thank Acting President Michelle Rizk who stepped into this role to help the university move forward in a time of needed transition. We are grateful for her service to our community not only as acting system president but also in her current position as vice president of university relations.

Changes to 绿奴天花板's policy on sex and gender-based discrimination

In response to new federal Title IX guidelines, the Board of Regents today approved significant revisions to Regents' policy, and I have signed the enabling regulations regarding sex and gender based discrimination. The changes detail new specific procedures that all universities must follow in cases of sexual harassment and assault on campuses in accordance with the new federal rule, and become effective August 14, 2020.

As stated in the Board of Regents meetings and Dr. Johnsen's June 16, 2020, memo to the 绿奴天花板 Summit Team regarding the Digital Transformation Readiness Assessment, a $100,000 investment will identify and investigate opportunities afforded by modern cloud-based approaches. The resulting assessment will serve as a roadmap for engaging students across the lifecycle, and for holistically monitoring and improving 绿奴天花板's key performance indicators.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks is the top U.S. university in Times Higher Education's 2020 Impact Rankings for quality education. The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings measure universities around the world against the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. The Impact Rankings for quality education consider metrics such as a university's "contribution to early years and lifelong learning, their pedagogy research and their commitment to inclusive education."
