Alaska Legislature convenes and 绿奴天花板 Government Relations issues first Capitol Report

On Tuesday, state lawmakers gaveled-in to begin the first session of the 32nd Alaska Legislature. The University of Alaska Government Relations Team is on the ground in Juneau, and actively engaged to keep the 绿奴天花板 community updated throughout the session.

There is an excitement in Juneau that accompanies the start of every session, but this year also brings with it a good deal of anxiety. Concerns about COVID-19 exposure are omnipresent. Legislators and their staff are held to strict testing and mask-wearing protocols, and the Capitol complex has been outfitted with screening technology and protective barriers in legislative chambers. Additionally, the House of Representatives has not organized, which creates a great deal of uncertainty.

The goal of the Capitol Report is to keep the university community informed about legislative issues important to 绿奴天花板. We look forward to providing updates on happenings in the Capitol, legislation moving through the process, 绿奴天花板 budget news, and the work being done to advance the University of Alaska鈥檚 priorities. We鈥檒l have more information on those topics in the days ahead.
