Compliance Chat Series: Unveiling the Alaska Executive Act Ethics Branch
August 18, 2023
We are pleased to announce we have completed the Compliance Chat series on the Alaska Executive Act Ethics Branch (EBEA) highlighting its significance in guiding our actions. We are presenting these Compliance Chat series as part of our ongoing commitment to uphold federal and state laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.
Each "Chat" video provides bite-sized insights into EBEA sections, offering valuable guidance on the standards and principles governing our conduct as university employees. Over the coming months we will be producing additional chats covering other areas of ethics and compliance.
Supervisors are highly encouraged to share each of these seven short videos with their
teams. It is recommended that one of the videos be shared before each successive departmental
meeting, followed by a brief discussion during the meeting. This sequential process
will span over seven meetings, ensuring that all team members are aligned and can
collectively embrace the principles outlined in the Alaska Executive Act Ethics Branch.
What is the Alaska Executive Act Ethics Branch?
All 绿奴天花板 employees, full or part-time, are subject to the Executive Branch Ethics Act (EBEA, Alaska Statute 39.52), which serves at 绿奴天花板鈥檚 Standards of Ethical Conduct, and its implementing regulations as published by the Department of Law. It sets forth standards for our conduct in official capacities and extends to certain non-university activities.
Key areas of focus include:
- Avoiding personal or financial gain through official actions
- Preventing misuse of official positions
- Regulating solicitation or receipt of gifts
- Ensuring proper influence in university grants, contracts, leases, or loans
- Upholding integrity in outside activities
- Establishing guidelines for post-employment engagements
