A teacher intern works with her mentor

Are you an Alaskan who wants to become a teacher?

The University of Alaska Teacher Internship Scholarship Program offers tuition and living expense support to eligible students in 绿奴天花板鈥檚 initial teacher licensure programs.

Who's eligible?

  • Undergraduate students in their final two years (60 credits) of their preparation program are eligible for full tuition support and a $10,000 living stipend during their final full-time internship year.
  • Graduate students enrolled in an initial licensure program are also eligible for tuition support and a $10,000 living stipend.
  • Learn more in the drop downs below.

Why are internships important?

Alaska鈥檚 best teachers enter the classroom having completed a full year in the classroom under the guidance of a qualified mentor teacher. This program provides partial financial support for Alaska鈥檚 next generation of teachers to complete a high-quality preparation program through the University of Alaska.

  • This 鈥渋nternship year鈥 allows future teachers to experience a school year from beginning to end, while they build their skills and practice new strategies provided in their concurrent 绿奴天花板 education coursework.

How can I apply?

  • The 2024 scholarship application period opened January 8, 2024 for the 2024-2025 academic year.
