Protecting Minors on Campus
The University of Alaska (绿奴天花板) welcomes minors onto its campuses. 绿奴天花板 is dedicated to fostering a secure and inclusive environment for minors involved in programs and activities held on its premises. We are committed to providing every employee with training to ensure the protection of minors who access our campuses and services.
The university system enacted the guidelines set forth in Board of Regents鈥 Policy and Regulation Chapter 09.12 鈥 Protection of Minors to provide protection for minors engaged in programs, events, and activities provided or endorsed by 绿奴天花板, or any program conducted at its facilities. The university expects all individuals engaged in these programs to adhere to those guidelines.
Protection of Minors Resources
- This platform will walk you through the Protection of Minors Office program registration process.
- Youth programs include all events, operations, endeavors, or activities designed for participation by minors and organized by 绿奴天花板 in which university employees or volunteers are responsible for the care, custody, or control of minors, or third party events and activities held at 绿奴天花板 facilities where there is not a reasonable expectation of parent or guardian supervision.
Protection of Minors for Authorized Adults (those working directly with minors)
Protection of Minors for Non-Authorized Adults
- A Program Coordinator or 绿奴天花板 Contact must register each Covered Program, Event, or Activity in the 绿奴天花板 Protection of Minors (POM) compliance and registration system a minimum of 30 days in advance and receive approval from the Protection of Minors Manager prior to the Covered Program, Event, or Activity.
- Any public event which may be attended by minors does not need to be registered if there is a reasonable expectation of supervision by a parent or legal guardian. To meet this requirement, advertise the event or activity with the following language: 鈥淧ersons under the age of 18 who are attending this event [or activity] should be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of their time at the event [or activity].鈥
