February System Office Staff Council Meeting Highlights

The System Office Staff Council held a regular business meeting on Monday February 14th. Below are highlights from the meeting:
- SOSC is well into planning the annual SO Staff Longevity and Outstanding Employee Awards event, which will take place on Friday April 22nd at 2:00pm.
- As part of planning for that event, an announcement went out on Tuesday that the nominations for the Outstanding Employee Awards are now open! Nominations can be submitted via . Nominations close March 18th.
- SOSC is planning a spring food bank and teen shelter giving drive. Look for announcements on that coming soon.
- SOSC heard a report on the first meeting of the new System Office Mission Statement project team from Monique Musick
- SOSC discussed the proposal from administration to adopt an Educational Attainment Incentive Program, which would give staff automatic raises after completing a degree
- SOSC discussed the 绿奴天花板 Goals and Measures and Compensation Philosophy presentation documents from the upcoming BOR meeting agenda
- SOSC passed a motion to show support for the regarding the motion to appoint President Pitney as permanent president
- Council members heard a report on Staff Alliance activities:
- Staff Alliance further discussed the idea of a staff ombuds position and have called for volunteers to serve on an ad-hoc committee to pursue this idea.
- Ad-hoc committee on shared governance: Members of this committee presented a to Faculty Alliance. This idea was since presented to System Governance Council, who voted to show support for the idea.
- Staff Alliance heard an update from the Staff Healthcare Committee
- Staff Alliance and the local councils are planning a shared systemwide staff development day for May 5th and discussing possible speakers, focused on the subject of staff morale
