Dear University Community,
In these challenging times for the University of Alaska, we are doing everything we
can to provide updated information to you.
Here’s a link to a on the declaration of financial exigency including information on community engagement
and next steps.
And here is a list of resources to help you understand and follow the process as decisions
and planning unfolds over the coming weeks.
FY2020 budget website:
Housed on President Johnsen’s page, this is the official location for systemwide updates
related to the FY2020 budget including videos, communications and FAQs. You can also for future FAQs.
Additional resources include a about the university, copies of official memos including those outlining restrictions
on , , and , and a link to ÂÌÅ«Ì컨°å budget media coverage.
The site also offers information on the being considered by the Board of Regents. Once a decision is made on structure and
detailed planning begins, updates will be posted and there will be opportunities to
provide feedback through this site.
HR Financial exigency page:
This is where we post and update the FAQ and information on financial exigency - in
particular employee impacts – as well as for future FAQs. Human resources will provide more information on the impact of certain
types of employment actions as we learn more about how the university will implement
a plan under financial exigency.
Board of Regents:
The Board of Regents are having to make unprecedented decisions. This is where you access meeting and agenda information, presentation materials posted to , and find the link to watch the .
The next special meeting of the Board of Regents will be July 30, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.,
in Anchorage. Watch live at . President Johnsen will present a more in-depth look at two options for the university
structure along with detailed impacts for each option during Tuesday’s meeting, where
we expect they will choose an option to pursue.

More than ever there is a demand for reliable university budget data. The office of strategy, planning and budget provides publications and data on budgeted and actual expenses, distribution plans and more.
